Designed as a sister ship to their beloved Magellan Explorer, the Magellan Discoverer mirrors the elegant style of its sibling and brings its own unique flair with exciting enhancements.

Adhering to the rigorous PC6 ice class specifications, this vessel is tailored for our signature Antarctic fly-and-sail operations, hosting up to 76 guests in 40 cabins spread over three passenger decks.

Continuing their legacy of environmental responsibility, Magellan Discoverer boasts advanced heat recovery systems and meets the rigorous Tier III emission standards.

Onboard, guests will find a spacious dining area, versatile meeting rooms, an elegant observation lounge and bar, a state-of-the-art gym, and a charming gift shop.

The ship’s accessible bow offers an intimate connection with the breathtaking Antarctic waters.

The creation of Magellan Discoverer is a response to the growing popularity of our unique fly-and-cruise Antarctic expeditions, a concept they pioneered back in 2003.

Jaime Vásquez, their esteemed President, notes, ” This ship is born out of our unwavering commitment to meeting the rising expectations of our guests. Equipped with the latest technology, Magellan Discoverer strengthens our dedication to sustainability while offering seamless comfort for our travelers. With its modern elegance and advanced technical features, it supports our ongoing effort to provide unparalleled experiences in the spectacular Antarctic region.”

The ship’s accommodations seamlessly blend adventure and comfort.

It features ten luxurious Suites, including two spacious Family Suites, twenty-two Deluxe Veranda Cabins, six Single Veranda Cabins, and two Triple Veranda Cabins.

Each cabin offers king-size beds, cozy sitting areas, and private balconies for personal views of the Antarctic wonder.

The ship introduces a unique wet science lab and an expansive top deck for 360-degree views of the stunning surroundings.

Guests can unwind in the sauna with panoramic windows after a day of exploration.

The added convenience of an elevator serving five decks enhances the onboard comfort.

Claudio Bobadilla, Fleet Director, shares his excitement: “Leveraging our experience with Magellan Explorer and our fruitful collaboration with ASENAV, I am thrilled to embark on the Magellan Discoverer project. We are committed to innovating and setting new standards in expedition cruising. Several design enhancements have been developed, reflecting our learnings from building Magellan Explorer together. Our goal is to exceed the high standards expected by our guests. Magellan Discoverer will become a point of reference in the Antarctic tourism industry, and a point of pride for our team.”

Magellan Discoverer is set to revolutionize the journey with a state-of-the-art hybrid-electric propulsion system, featuring powerful MAN main engines, and ABB’s innovative Azipod® propulsion units and Energy Storage System with Battery Bank from Corvus.

This ensures a smoother and quieter voyage through the icy realms.

Like its predecessor, Magellan Discoverer will be constructed at the ASENAV shipyard in Valdivia, Chile, reinforcing our fruitful collaboration.

They eagerly anticipate welcoming guests aboard in December 2026 for an unforgettable Antarctic adventure aboard the Magellan Discoverer.
