TUI Cruises christens Mein Schiff 7 on 22 June 2024 in the Bay of Kiel Christening voyage with the latest feel-good ship can be booked promptly.

Mein Schiff 7 is entering the home stretch: The latest newbuild in the Mein Schiff fleet will be ceremoniously named during a christening cruise on 22 June 2024.
The journey will start in Kiel on 21 June 2024. After a panoramic voyage through the Danish South Seas, Mein Schiff 7 will moor again in the port of the Schleswig-Holstein capital on 23 June 2024 and pay a visit to Kiel Week on its second day.
During the christening voyage, during which guests can discover the many new highlights of Mein Schiff 7, a spectacular program awaits them with a new entertainment show, outstanding artists and many culinary and musical surprises.
“After the christening of Mein Schiff 4 in 2015, we deliberately decided to christen in the Bay of Kiel again, because it is the perfect place to start a dreamlike journey north and discover seventh heaven at sea. And this is exactly what we are inviting the guests of Mein Schiff 7 to do from June,” says Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises.
The godmother of Mein Schiff 7 has now also been determined: Fenia Kalachani, environmental officer on board the Mein Schiff fleet since 2022, will be responsible for the implementation and compliance with all relevant environmental regulations on board the Mein Schiff fleet together with her environmental officer colleagues.
“As an environmental officer, I am pleased to be able to make my contribution to ensuring that our guests experience how seriously we take environmental protection and the responsible and sustainable use of resources on board. The fact that I am now the godmother of Mein Schiff 7 – on behalf of the entire Mein Schiff crew – is a particularly great honour for me. This sister ship of Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2 is a good example of how innovative cruising can also be in terms of the environment and sustainability.”
Sustainable growth with a focus on low-emission ship operation
Initially, the new building will be operated exclusively with lower-emission marine diesel (sulphur content max. 0.1%) and is equipped with catalytic converters (nitrogen oxide reduction: approx. 75%) and a shore power connection.
In addition, Mein Schiff 7 will be built in such a way that it can also run on methanol, which will make the ship’s propulsion system almost CO2-neutral.
The decision to prepare Mein Schiff 7 for methanol propulsion is an important investment in the future and also an important step on the way to climate-neutral cruising.
In order to achieve even more efficient and circular waste processing on board, Mein Schiff 7 will also be equipped with the innovative Hydro-Treat system, which carbonizes the organic waste through thermal treatment and can make the resulting biochar usable for further use on land.

The 2-day christening voyage of Mein Schiff 7 from/to Kiel from 21 to 23 June 2024, including the christening programme, is available from 699 euros per person in a balcony cabin, with double occupancy in the PRO tariff and 899 euros in a single cabin outside in the PRO tariff with the Mein Schiff Premium inclusive services.
