I was approached recently by the creator and owner of CruiseLegend to look at his app and what my thoughts were as a cruising blog owner.
Now one thing I have really wanted to see for a long time is somewhere I can find cruise information, ships, ports and more in one simple place, laid out in a logical manner and easily navigable.
I have to say, in my opinion, this is it! All the areas I would like to see in a cruising app are there and I found it really easy to find my way around, not always the case in apps!
To give you a taste of what is contained in the app, please read on below. It is only a quick overview and really doesn’t do the app total justice but it would be a rather lengthy blog if I drilled down to every area of the app!
Home Page
The home page contains links to several functional areas, clearly laid out and clicking on the area takes you to the page. The pages are Cruise Ship, Port, Region, Cruise Line, Where to Book, News and Info with a bottom menu carrying 4 icons to take you either Home, Ships, Ports or Social Media as shown in the screenshot below.
Cruise Ship
Clicking on this area takes you to a listing of current Cruise Ships and includes a useful search function that works well. When you find the ship you are search for, clicking on the ships name brings up photographs of the ship, its schedule (different dates can be selected) as shown in the screenshot below. It will also show the ship characteristics.
Port
Clicking on this area takes you to a listing of Cruise Ports and again includes a useful search function that works well. It also allows you to select the Top 50, Top 100 and Top 250 ports which I liked. Once a Port has been selected it provides Port schedules (selectable by date) and Port information. Again, it is really nicely laid out and easy to navigate.
Region
Another useful option, with world region and countries available once again with a useful search engine. By selecting an area or country, you can then drill down to individual ports as above.
Cruise Line
An area containing each cruise line, again searchable, that will then drill down to the individual ships of the line and their current location. Clicking on the individual ship will take you to the Cruise Ship area as covered earlier.
Where to Book
Clicking on this option takes you to a listing of travel agents / websites and again has a useful search option.
News
As it suggests, this area carries cruise news with sub headings of All, Blogs, Tips & Advice, Ship Review, Port Review, Press Release and General. It again carries a very useful search option to get you where you want to be. Please see the screenshot below.
Info
A self explanatory section containing information in the categories of Planning a Cruise, Cruise Line Profile, Future Launches and Cruise Directory.
Summary
This app already packs a considerable punch with a huge amount of varied cruise information and I suggest there is lots more to come. For me, what makes it more impressive is for an early version its completeness and useability is outstanding.
So, I would suggest you give it a go and if you are like me, it is now downloaded on my phone and will be used on a very regular basis.
The QR codes for iOS and Android are below to take you the App Store or Google Play Store.
As well as the apps, there is a website cruiselegend.com
