Three cheers for vacations: This week, Royal Caribbean International marked the next milestone for the third revolutionary combination of the best of every vacation.

The physical construction of the soon-to-be-named Icon Class vacation is officially underway, and the moment was marked at a keel-laying celebration at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland.

Royal Caribbean International kicked off the start of physical construction on the third Icon Class vacation that debuts in 2026. A keel-laying celebration took place at Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku, where the first block of the soon-to-be-named ship was lifted and placed onto a layer of freshly minted coins.

The upcoming ship is well on its way to making its debut in 2026, and more will be revealed in the coming months.

At the celebration, the first building block was placed in the dry dock where the next up in the record-setting Icon Class will take shape.

The keel, known as the backbone of a ship, is what lies at the bottom and center of its hull.

The Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku teams that will bring the new vacation to life witnessed the milestone and sealed the deal – and good fortune – by placing a layer of freshly minted coins before the massive steel block was lifted and placed.

Building on the new era of vacations that made headlines with the introduction of Icon of the Seas, the next bold adventure in the lineup will follow the summer 2025 debut of Star of the Seas in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida.

The vacation that is still to be revealed will deliver more of the unmatched combination of experiences that defines the game-changing Icon Class roster, which will continue with a fourth ship in 2027 and options for a fifth and sixth in the future.
